Posing for photos leads to trespassing complaints in Lake Worth Beach

LAKE WORTH BEACH, Fla. — Lake Worth Beach is known for a number of things and art may be one of them.

One particular piece of art, a mural on Lucerne Avenue and L street has recently become the source of a lot of scrutiny from business owners and residents. It depicts several wings with room for visitors to stand in between and take photos.

Salon owner, Lisa Owens, says, “We would pose in front of and do a selfie or friends would take photos of you.”

She says things changed about 2 months ago when three no trespassing signs went up in front of the wings painted on the side of Mr. Shoe Repair Shop. The wall is facing a private parking lot for residents at neighboring Villa Di Lucerne Apartments.

Owens says she was not impressed, “It completely ruined it, it’s almost like they just have to start over and bring it somewhere else at this point. And that’s what’s really heartbreaking.”

But residents at the apartment complex like Joshua Raymond says the attraction is a little inconvenient, especially since his assigned spot is against the wall.

“People will block off the roadway people will come in and park in someone else’s parking spot just to take pictures,” says Raymond.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Hotline says all property owners living within the sheriff’s office jurisdiction are eligible for the same signs, the only cost is for the physical signs themselves.

We reached out to the property management group for the apartments about why the signs went up where they did; we got no response.
