PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said a 33-year-old Port St. Lucie man died early Monday morning after he failed to properly place his truck in park.

PBSO said the deadly incident occurred at 3:47 a.m. in the 12200 block of Hamlin Blvd. in the Loxahatchee area.

Investigators said Patrick Garofola pulled his 2018 Chevrolet 3500 into a private driveway at the location, facing south.

As Garofola attempted to exit his truck, he failed to properly place the vehicle in park. This caused the truck to begin rolling backward in a northward direction.

As the truck began to roll, Garofola was pulled under the vehicle and fatally injured.

PBSO said he was pronounced dead at the scene.
