LAKE WORTH BEACH, Fla. — A mixed martial arts fighter from Boynton Beach man died in a crash overnight.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, 33-year-old Angel Corchado was traveling northbound on the I-95 exit ramp to 6th Avenue at 2:39 a.m. on Saturday.
For unknown reasons, Corchado's 2014 Chevrolet Sonic collided with a traffic light pole at the bottom of the ramp.
Corchado died from his injuries following the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The MMA fighter and instructor was also known as “El Jefe," or the boss.
The professional fighter was a trainer at an MMA gym in Lantana, Florida, where he taught his last class Friday.
The owner of the Combat Club gym told The Palm Beach Post that Corchado was preparing for an upcoming fight.
