PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — Friendly reminder.

If you have a package that might be harmful to others, don't pick it up. Also, don't bring it to a location where there are other people.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said in a written statement Wednesday that's what happened recently.

A resident living in the Golden Lakes area of the county found a suspicious package outside his residence, which contained a white substance.

PBSO said the resident decided to pick up the package and transport it in his vehicle to the sheriff's office headquarters.

The PBSO lobby and county courts were immediately put on lockdown until the sheriff's office Explosive Ordnance Disposal team arrived and tested the substance.

The white substance did have a trace amount of a dangerous substance, said investigators.

The substance was packaged and entered into evidence.

The sheriff's office said they want to remind the public to "never pickup or handle anything that appears to suspicious. Call 911."
