A man originally arrested for animal cruelty and possession of marijuana is now accused of a random shooting that wounded a woman in Palm Beach.
The shooting occurredon Brazilian Avenue and South Ocean Boulevard in late December.
The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Palm Beach police say surveillance video, witness accounts and forensic evidence led them to Javier Orelly.
He has been charged with two misdemeanor counts; Discharging a Firearm in Public and Culpable Negligence.
Last week Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Orelly after they found a large black dog's body without a head in the grave.
According to deputies, Orelly said he was "stressed out and needed to sacrifice animals to cleanse himself."
In that case Orelly is facing two counts of animal cruelty along with a possession of marijuana charge and was ordered to undergo a mental evaluation by a judge.
