PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla.-- A Palm Beach County elementary school is helping others in our community have food on their shelves this holiday season.

Palm Beach Public Elementary School collected 704 pounds of food on behalf of WPTV's Food for Families food drive.

Students helped box up the food before it went out for delivery.

The food will all go to families in need through The Lord’s Place.

"It’s gonna be going to 57 different households, it could be individuals throughout Palm Beach County who have been chronically homeless from the street into an apartment or duplex," said Marilyn Munoz with The Lord's Place.

“Service is the first thing we have to teach children before any academics or anything else and this is a project that involves all of them and they want to help others," said Palm Beach Public Elementary School Assistant Principal Mary Schmitz.

The last public food drop off eventwill take place November 22. 2019 at the WPTV Studios from 6 a.m.-6:30 p.m. The location is 1100 Banyan Blvd., in West Palm Beach.
