Violet Mendez,14, has played at Okeeheelee Middle School Baseball Team for the past two years. Her family said Sunday night they received a text from the coach saying Mendez could not play on the team anymore after a complaint from a parent.
The Palm Beach County School District said Mendez had not filled out the proper paperwork to play.
The Mendez family and their lawyer, Mark Eiglarsh, showed up to the game on Monday with the proper paperwork and were told by the school she could play.
“I am confirming that district staff have informed me that your client will be allowed to complete the season upon submission of a properly completed athletic eligibility packet,” said Eiglarsh.
