The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office has settled with the 17-year-old Down syndrome manshot by a deputy, according to the man's attorney.
The amount of money the sheriff's office will pay Jeremy Hutton is confidential.
But sources say it is in the high six figure range.
Hutton took his mother's minivan for a low speed joy ride in 2010.
Investigators say Jason Franqui shot into the van hitting the Down syndrome man three times.
"The Hutton family, from the first time we sat down with them, made it perfectly clear to us that this case for them was not about money. It was about trying to get accountability for the person or persons responsible for shooting their seventeen-year-old child who has Down syndrome," attorney Stuart Kaplan said.
Kaplan says the settlement money will go into a trust for Jeremy Hutton.
