Pedestrian killed in crash with train in Lake Worth Beach

LAKE WORTH BEACH, Fla. -- A pedestrian was struck and killed by a train on Friday night.

At 7:40 p.m., crews responded to reports of a train incident near the intersection of 11th Avenue South and South H Street, according to Palm Beach Fire Rescue.

First arriving firefighters found a pedestrian had been struck by a train. On evaluation, they confirmed the patient was deceased.

The pedestrian was later identified as 48-year-old Elifredo Cabrera Cancel.

Palm Beach Sheriff Office is investigating.

It wasn't determined what type of train was involved in the crash on Florida East Coast Railway tracks operated by Virgin Trains USA and freight trains.

On Saturday, a woman and her three grandchildren were struck and killed by an Amtrak train near Jupiter on CSX tracks.
