PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — If your taste in pets runs a little more exotic than a dog or cat, the South Florida Fairgrounds was the place for you on Sunday.

"Repticon West Palm Beach" took place at the South Florida Expo Center.

Visitors got the chance to see live reptiles up close at fascinating live animal encounters and seminars.

They also were able to get quality advice directly from reptile breeders and experts.

Breeders say reptiles are just like any other pet, thriving in a loving household.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission reminds the public that some nonnative species are considered to be dangerous to Florida’s native species and habitats, posing threats to the health and welfare of the people of Florida.

These species are not allowed to be personally possessed, but can be imported and possessed by permit for research or public exhibition.
