One person was injured in a mortar explosion in Riviera Beach Friday evening.
The incident happened around 5 p.m. in the 100 block of Silver Beach Road.
According to the Riviera Beach Police Department, the victim, an adult male employee at Sunny Food Store went outside and found a device wrapped in foil with a wick and lit it.
The explosion did extensive damage to his hand, officials said.
The patient was transported to a trauma center.
Police are investigating and it's unknown if foul play was involved.
