Carjacking suspects involved in 3-vehicle crash

UPDATE: The driver of the stolen Infiniti SUV, Johnny Francis, was arrested and charged with Grand Theft Auto and Fleeing, Attempting to Elude, according to Riviera Beach police. Francis also received multiple citations for traffic violations and was driving with a suspended license.

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. -- A car police were attempting to stop was involved a multiple vehicle crash in Riviera Beach Friday afternoon, according to a city police spokesperson.

The car police tried to pull over has been connected to an armed carjacking last Friday in Boca Raton, police said.

The driver was westbound on Blue Heron Boulevard and crashed into two other vehicles near the Bee Line Highway. 

A total of 5 people, including 3 suspects in the carjacking, were hurt and transported to the hospital.

During the investigation Military Trail was closed from Martin Luther King, Jr., Boulevard to Dyer Boulevard and Blue Heron Boulevard was closed from Military Trail to Haverhill Road. The roads were reopened around 5:30 p.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash scene.
