Riviera Beach shooting leads to police pursuit, violent crash on I-95 ramp

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. — Riviera Beach police were involved in a chase Wednesday night that went into West Palm Beach and then back to Riviera Beach before the suspect's car eventually crashed.

Police said the chase began in the 900 block of W. 5th St. in Rivera Beach after an officer heard gun shots and responded. When the officer arrived on scene, the officer saw a car speeding away and a chase ensued.

The suspect’s car later crashed at the southbound on-ramp to Interstate 95 at Blue Heron Blvd.

Three people have been detained, police say.

One person shot and driven to the hospital by car. The victim is expected to survive their injuries.

Police worked to reopen the I-95 south on ramp at Blue Heron Boulevard late Wednesday night.
