RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. — Melissa Reinhart was holding a manager's meeting Sunday outside Mulligan's Beach House Bar & Grill when she heard gunshots and started yelling for everyone to drop to the ground.

"All of a sudden we heard about, I would say, eight to 10 gunshots," Reinhart told WPTV.

Riviera Beach police detectives were back on the beach Monday, searching through the sand one day after a woman was shot near Ocean Walk on Singer Island.

"The bullets were flying that way, where my car was, so, yeah, we could have been hit," witness Staci Magee said.

Reinhart said she saw a car speeding away as the shots were still being fired.

Witnesses said a bullet struck a woman sitting in the sand. She was rushed to St. Mary's Medical Center.

"It was petrifying," Reinhart said. "It was scary, but you have to stay calm. I run a building with 85 employees."

Crime scene vehicles remained in the parking lot Monday.

While police haven't said much about the shooting, many locals and employees in the area are hoping to learn more about what happened.

"I normally come out here for my breaks or just to sit in the park area, which it makes you not want to come out anymore," Anabel Garcia said.

No arrests have been made.

The victim's condition was not immediately known.
