Palm Beach County's tourism marketers are pushing resident to share their slice of paradise and invite friends and family from out of state to come visit.

Discover the Palm Beaches say the goal is to boost the county's tourism market.

The tourism agency says social media is a great way to lure others down, encouraging residents to post photos of the beach and other Palm Beach County attractions.

According to Discover the Palm Beaches, new hotels popping up means more rooms available countywide. Tourism numbers have risen some, but not enough to fill all of the rooms, so some resorts are seeing a drop in occupancy rates.

Several local hotels say they experienced an especially slow January and February.

Tourism officials want to raise visitor numbers to keep all of the county's hotels full.

"Tourism is the second most important industry in Palm Beach County," says Jorge Pesquera, President and CEO of Discover the Palm Beaches. "Every 100 visitors create one job, and that's what it's all about, jobs and quality of life four our community."

According to Discover the Palm Beaches, 80% of people invited to Palm Beach County by a friend or family member end up visiting.
