Lockdown lifted at Washington Elementary School in Riviera Beach following criminal activity in area

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. — A lockdown has been lifted at Washington Elementary School in Riviera Beach after criminal activity in the area spilled onto campus Friday.

According to the Palm Beach County School District, a suspect who was trying to get away from Riviera Beach police came onto campus. That suspect was eventually arrested.

The school, located at 1709 W. 30th Street, was put on lockdown and no one was allowed in or out.

A school district spokesperson said there was no danger to students, and police have given the all clear. The lockdown has been lifted.

Classes will continue for the rest of the day on a regular schedule, and all afterschool activities will be held as scheduled.

There will be no student pick-up until regular dismissal.
