Palm Beach County Fire Rescue says a child suffered a traumatic injury during a youth football game in Royal Palm Beach Saturday.
The President for the Royal Palm Beach Wildcats, Mike Lavorano said a child playing in the 5-7-year-old Tiny Mite division for the Riviera Beach Chargers was hurt during a tackle in the game. Lavorano said the child was on the ground for about 10 minutes until an ambulance arrived. He said it's the league's protocol to not move a player until paramedics arrive.
Lavorano added that the child got up and everyone clapped. A commissioner with the league told us he will be ok.
Fire rescue said crews responded to the park at noon and the child was taken to a local hospital.
