It's something you don't typically see: Palm Beach County Sheriff Office deputies on horseback. But you’ll likely spot them more often during the holidays in efforts to keep you and your family safe.

PBSO’s Mounted Unit patrolled the Costco parking lot in Royal Palm beach on Tuesday. "This is Scooter and that's Rosco," said a deputy as he introduced two integral members of the unit.
The horses are part of PBSO's specialized unit.

PBSO says 'tis the season for people to break into cars so they’re warning families about car burglaries and providing safety tips. "Don't leave packages or purses even if it's a diaper bag they can think it's a purse so don't leave anything out in the open," said another deputy.

The unit was also spreading holiday cheer and encouraging people to stop by and say hello.

If you missed them, they'll be patrolling different areas in Palm Beach County throughout the holidays.
