Lesly Cadet gets choked up talking about his daughter, 14-year-old Les Myrla Cadet.
He remembers Monday night well. It was the last night he would spend time with her. "The last time I saw her and we were talking, she spent 3 hours doing her homework and this was 10:30 at night."
Tuesday morning, the 9th grader was hit by a car on Okeechobee Boulevard and Haverhill Road as she was walking to her bus stop.
Her father did not want to talk about the tragedy, instead he chose to remember the precious daughter he nicknamed Lahlah. He says he brought her from Haiti in 2005. "She was an A and B student. She was smart." A good girl gone too soon.
"Whatever I would tell her, she would say, 'yes daddy.' "
This loss has shocked the entire family. Syndie Remy is her cousin. "We will miss her forever, and she will be forever remembered."
She attended Inlet Grove Community High School which plans to offer a scholarship in the teen's memory to future law students.
A GoFundMe account has also been set up for Les Myrla.
