On a given day, you'll see Johnny Meier filling prescriptions at his store in Wellington, but now he's also being asked questions about the Zika virus.
That's why he attended the Wellington Chamber of Commerce's luncheon where the Department of Health talked about the latest information on the virus.
"I'm constantly inundated with questions from patients who are pregnant or who want to get pregnant. Or from gentlemen planning pregnancy with their significant other. So, as health care providers, if they can't get to their physician, they ask their pharmacist," said Meier, the owner of My Community Pharmacy in Wellington.
Meier wants to make sure he has some answers for his customers.
"We are providing lots of literature, lots of information about Zika to any of our clients. Different types of insect repellent, teaching them the difference of the mosquitoes that carry Zika versus the other mosquitoes," said Meier.
Attending the forum is a time to become educated on the Zika virus.
"It was great information. I don't think there was enough community awareness on how we can help. There's a lot of things saying how the government entities can help, but not us as residents how we can help," said Marla Bueno, who attended the event.
