The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office has released new information in the investigation of a woman's claim that she was abducted from Palm Beach County Sunday.
Investigators say the victim was kidnapped in Wellington near Wellington Trace and Big Blue Trace west of Forest Hill Boulevard.
She was found more than 70 miles away on the side of a road in Hialeah. Her car was found abandoned on U.S. 27 in Palm Beach County earlier Sunday morning.
Detectives believe the alleged kidnappers were driving a light-colored van with "For Sale 954-5" written in white on the rear window.
The victim was taken from a public and seemingly safe area in Wellington. Jason Nolan livesi in the neighborhood and says it was one of the reasons why he decided to move to Wellington when he and his family relocated from North Carolina a few months ago.
"It's a very safe neighborhood. It's one of the things that we looked at as far as crime rates," said Nolan.
Now the abduction of a woman less than a quarter mile from his home is making him more aware of his 12-year-old daughter's safety.
"Things happen no matter where you are but it's definitely something I'll keep my out and keep in the back of my mind when she's coming home from school. Maybe take that extra effort and pick her up instead of her walking," added Nolan.
Investigators have not released any new information on the victim. She was taken to a hospital for evaluation and did not have any specific injuries.
