WELLINGTON, Fla. — A student will be disciplined after bringing a BB gun to Polo Park Middle School in Wellington on Thursday, school officials say.
According to a message from Principal Michael Aronson to parents, another student spotted the BB gun in a backpack and alerted school staff.
School district police confiscated the weapon, and no one was hurt.
The child who brought the BB gun to the school, which is located at 11901 Lake Worth Rd., will be disciplined, according to Aronson.
The principal said in his message to parents:
"Parents, please remind your children that the items they have access to at home, are not necessarily appropriate to bring to school. Any type of weapon, real or fake, is never permitted on school grounds."
Students and parents are urged to report any suspicious activity in and around schools through the free Fortify Florida app.
