Wellington High School was evacuated after a bomb threat Tuesday.

Wellington students with cars, and students who walked to school, were allowed to leave campus first, according to a tweet from the Palm Beach County School District.

The school worked with transportation officials to get buses for the other students, according to the district.

Principal Mario Crocetti released students around noon due to inclement weather, the district said.

The bomb squad was called and school police and the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office searched school grounds as a precaution.

The bomb squad did not find any explosives and the all-clear was given around 3 p.m.

The district canceled all after school and evening activities for the day.

"We must treat every threat as a potentially serious situation," Crocetti said in a news release.

"Now that this situation has been determined to be a hoax, I will continue to work with School District Police to determine who is responsible, and ensure that person is held accountable," Crocetti said.

School will be in session Wednesday.
