WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.-- Two city workers in West Palm Beach prove yet again that not all heroes wear capes.

Watershed spray technicians Foskie McCord and Joe Bronsdon pulled out two golfers, who somehow fell into a canal near the Cypress Lakes neighborhood.

The workers managed to jump a fence in order to save the golfers.

West Palm Beach Mayor Keith James honored the men for their heroic efforts.

McCord and Bronsdon said it was a split-second decision they were happy they had a chance to make.

"I was pretty, like, this going to be bad if he doesn't get help; that was my first reaction right there," McCord said.

"I didn't have too much time to think about it, you know. My initial reaction was to help him out. Stay calm and just help him out and make sure they're all right. It was just a split-second off-the-chain situation," said Bronsdon.

Mayor James honored the pair with the city's STAR award which recognizes and rewards "diligent efforts of employees who provide outstanding quality services to the City and have demonstrated exemplary behaviors and skills."
