Abortion debate highlights upcoming election

Posted

In Palm Beach County, both sides of the debate gathered in downtown West Palm Beach as Florida Lawmakers take up similar legislation restricting abortions.

Inside the Kravis Center Wednesday, Planned Parenthood and former Texas State Senator Wendy Davis called a U.S. Supreme Court decision on a Texas abortion law critical.

Even today, the Florida House is discussing it's own legislation restricting abortion access which opposition calls detrimental to Planned Parenthood.

"Clinics have decreased dramatically," says Davis.

Outside the Kravis, pro-lifers speak a different message.

"Everytime one of these bills, it gets stopped," says Willy Guardiola.

Both sides can agree that elections matter. The Supreme Court is hearing this case with a vacant seat, which could come down to the next President.

"You're going to lead a lot up to the pro-life movement," says Guardiola.

Back inside the Kravis Center, Davis calls this general election crucial.

"This next President is going to make a very important decision about who will replace Jusice Scalia and possibly who might replace further justices."
