Ethan Parker and his band are practicing at a studio in West Palm Beach today.
Jean Marc Alexander, who plays percussion and sings, says, "We're all music lovers, we all met in college, we all went to school for music so it's definitely a great experience"
They are getting ready for the big "Battle of the bands" contest tonight at Lafayettes in CityPlace.
This isn't any ordinary contest though, The winner gets to play at SUNFEST on the main stage!
SunFest special events coordinator Josh Weiner says, "People can show up tonight and root on their favorite band and that'll weigh in the contest with our panel of judges to decide who gets that winning spot."
For the Ethan Parker Band, this isn't just for them, they also started a non profit called Project Primavera that helps orphaned kids.
Ethan says, " When we go on tour our whole goal is to promote mentorship for orphans and at risk youth, and when we're home we provide free music lessons to orphans and at risk youth."
So winning the battle of the bands tonight has a bigger meaning.
Ethan "Big part of it for us at SunFest it's like the more people we can get in front of, the more kids lives we can impact."
The first band takes the stage at 7pm at Lafayettes in CityPlace (across from the movie theater) The winner will be announced at 10:30pm and go onto play at SUNFEST on Saturday April 30th.
SunFest goes from April 27th to May 1st. The band line-up will be announced Thursday, February 25th.
