SB lanes of I-95 near Okeechobee Boulevard reopen in West Palm Beach after fatal crash

UPDATE: All lanes of southbound I-95 reopened near Okeechobee Boulevard following a fatal crash. 

EARLIER STORY:

Two southbound right lanes of Interstate 95 are blocked just before Exit 70B to Ockechobee Boulevard in West Palm Beach due to a fatal crash. 

Officals say the accident happened shortly after 12 p.m.

According to FHP spokesman Sgt. Mark Wysocky, the vehicle, a 1996 Nissan Pathfinder,  was pulling  a utility trailer with sod. The trailer began to swerve back and forth causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. 

The vehicle overturned and the passenger, 76-year-old Saint Surin Desty od Delray Beach, was ejected and died at the scene.

The driver, 53-year-old Lionel Mascille also from Delray Beach, was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. 

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
