The father of Florida State University football star and West Palm Beach native Travis Rudolph sustained a fatal gunshot wound Friday night.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said Darryl Rudolph died at an area hospital Saturday after an accidental shooting at Sugar Daddy's adult club in suburban West Palm Beach.

PBSO said Darryl Rudolph, 55, was shot from an adjacent room when a coworker was moving a firearm off a shelf at the club around 9:25 p.m.

Rudolph was found inside a back storage room of the club with a gunshot wound to the back/neck area.

Palm Beach County Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported Rudolph to St. Mary's Medical Center, where he died Saturday at 4:33 p.m.

PBSO said an investigation determined that Darryl Rudolph was at the club to repair items.

Investigators said this was not an intentional shooting, and the investigation is active and ongoing.

Travis Rudolph, a Cardinal Newman High School graduate, made national headlines for sitting with a child who had autism at lunch during a school visit last year in Tallahassee.

Most sports outlets predict the Florida State wide receiver will be a mid- to late-round selection in this week's NFL Draft in Philadelphia.
