A house fire has forced a West Palm Beach family out of their home on one of the coldest nights of the year.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue responded to a fire on Cherry Road around 10 a.m.
The family says the living area and back of the home were damaged by the fire and they say a space heater may be to blame.
When firefighters arrived they found the home on fire and filled with smoke.
Thankfully, the family living inside escaped unharmed.
“I started banging on the door and told everyone to get out,” said Elena Gabriel. “That was it. That's all that was going through my mind. I didn't care about nothing else.”
Firefighters say the Red Cross offered assistance to the family but they chose to stay with friends.
The cause of the fire is under investigation
