WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.- More women may be learning to handle guns in Palm Beach County.

That's according to the women's empowerment group, HerRights.org.

It offered free firearms training for women at the Guns & Range Training Center in West Palm Beach.

The group's founder, Barkha Herman, says more than 900 people signed up for 20 spots this month.

The two-hour class teaches women how to handle and shoot a gun.

The goal is to help women feel comfortable handling a firearm.

"In my opinion, I think that even if you don't want to go out and and go shooting at the range, you should know how to safely handle a gun, especially if you have a gun in the house," explained Herman.

Registration for March is full. The next class is Saturday April 13 at 10:30 a.m.
