WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- In the wake of the tragic Orlando attack, a local Islamic center is working to condemn and eliminate the threat of heinous crimes in the name of Islam.

The Islamic Center of Palm Beach shared a live broadcast Friday night, clarifying that murder and any other criminal acts are forbidden in the Islamic faith.

Sharik Elhosseiny, president of the center, says it is important for the Muslim community not only to condemn these acts, but to help law enforcement eradicate them, "We're not just here speaking against it. We are ready, willing and able to do what we need to do to work with the authorities, to do whatever we can do, with the community to help eradicate anything like this so people need to know that there is a safety when it comes to us that we are not just talking, we are acting as well."

The Islamic center has had steady security since it was vandalized last December.
