WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Dozens turned out in West Palm Beach to remember a man who dedicated his life's work to preserving the Everglades.
A procession at Memorial Presbyterian Church honored John Arthur Marshall.
He was passionate about the environment and preserving the wetlands.
"That's why we're here is to say thank you Lord for giving us this man," said Nathaniel Reed, a longtime friend of Marshall's. "Take good care of him. We'll all be joining him, all of us, who care so deeply about Mother Earth."
Marshall passed away on March 28.
He founded the Arthur R. Marshall Foundation created to support environmental education.
Marshall served in the U.S. Marine Corp. from 1963 - 1971. He received 19 air medals for 275 combat missions.
