The long-awaited Palm Beach County Convention Center hotel is opening to the public.

The hotel will start accepting its first guests Friday night. They will be open for dinner and accepting walk-ins. Reservations start Feb. 6.

There are 400 rooms, 43 suites, an outside pool and several large conference rooms. The hotel is also accepting reservations for weddings and conventions.

The building is expected to generate an estimated $1 billion in new revenue.

The hope is that the hotel will lure out-of-state businesses to book their conventions in West Palm Beach.

The convention center opened in 2003 but has struggled without a connected hotel to house conference attendees.
