PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — Palm Beach County Commissioners this week approved a $1.5 million project to put sidewalks along a dozen neighborhood streets, many of them near schools.
“For the kids it’s better for them,” says Rachel Glinka, a parent of a student at Del Prado Elementary School in West Boca Raton.
“It’s hard you have to wait for the traffic to stop and they don’t let you,” Glinka says referring to the sidewalk on one side of Del Prado Circle that students need to cross to get to nearby apartments.
The county sidewalk project also has funding to repair sidewalks.
According to the proposal that went before county commissioners, most of the new sidewalks were the result of resident requests.
