WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A man was found dead and a woman was critically injured in a shooting near West Palm Beach early Saturday morning.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to a call of shots fired around 4:30 a.m. in the 2300 block of Lena Lane near Purdy Lane.
“We were concerned because we thought it was right in front of our house, that’s how loud it was,” said Christina Gomes, who lives across the street.
Neighbors say they heard more than 30 shots and what sounded like rapid fire.
“It’s pretty scary that bullets are flying and that children live here. It could have went through any of these buildings,” said Kellie Lefever.
Deputies found a vehicle crashed into a tree. A man and woman, whose names have not been released, were located inside the car, both suffering from gunshot wounds.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene scene and the woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment in critical condition, PBSO said.
Detectives from PBSO's Violent Crimes Division are investigating this shooting as a homicide.
No suspect or motive information has been released.
