WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Veterans impacted by burn pits during their service can now get insight on care options with the VA health care system.
From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, an open house was held at the VA Medical Center in West Palm Beach.
VA care options are for all Vietnam, Gulf War and post 9/11 era veterans exposed to burn pits, agent orange and other toxic substances.
"And one thing my battalion commander told us before we went home is, 'When you get home, connect with a Vietnam veteran and tell them you're there for them, and thank them for their service,'” said South Florida American Legion Commander Johhny Castro. "And I'm so happy that the VA system actually stepped up to begin taking care of our Vietnam counterparts."
Passed in August by Congress, the PACT Act expands VA health care and benefits for millions of veterans and their survivors.
