PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — The School District of Palm Beach County says they are recruiting independent referees who will work under a new Palm Beach County volleyball association sanctioned by the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA).

The Florida High School Athletic Association has terminated the East Coast Volleyball Officials Association following what FHSAA calls a 'violation of policies.'

Annual sub-varsity girls volleyball tournament games are scheduled for Friday evening and Saturday at Park Vista Community High School.

The School District's Athletic Department is expected to release a partial schedule for the next few weeks of the season, according to a news release.

"It's essential that our student athletes have the opportunity to pursue their passion, both athletically and scholastically. I'm looking forward to supporting our girls and coaches from the sidelines" said District athletic manager Valerie Miyares.

The school district also said in the release:

The District extends its gratitude to students, staff and the community for its collective patience as administrators worked through this stalemate with ECVOA.

We are also grateful to the individual officials who have stepped forward to get our players back in the game. And, to our volleyball players, we wish you a tremendous season.
