PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — The Palm Beach County School District has announced plans to build six new schools in the next five years in response to overcrowding concerns at area schools.

“I think it’s awesome,” said parent Bobbi Levy.

The three elementary, one middle and two high schools would be built on land already owned by the school's district in places like Boca Raton, West Acreage, the Palm Beach Gardens area, as well as greater West Palm Beach and Lake Worth.

“I mean you have kids with 45 kids in a class what are they learning? You have three bad kids in that class and you’re in trouble,” said Levy.

Levy says she believes the school district is doing an excellent job trying to deal with the schools at or exceeding capacity, however she hopes changes are made soon.

On Wednesday, the PBCSD said this is not to be confused with the schools throughout the district that are currently undergoing renovations. Several schools are currently receiving new campuses with projected completion dates varying over the next few school years.

Part of the planning solutions to address growth includes attendance zone changes, as the new schools are built.
