A jury has found a Palm Beach County Sheriff's deputy guilty of attempted sexual battery in possession of a weapon and a separate battery charge. He was found not guilty on another battery count.

The verdicts stem from an incident in July of 2016. Deputy Jason Nebergall responded to a disturbance call from a woman at a mobile home park.  Nebergall showed up to her house for a second time that night and was accused of touching her sexually and attempting to assault her.

During his trial, the defense argued that Nebergall returned to the victim's home to check on her and that she came on to him.

According to investigators, a swab taken from the victim's chest had traces of Nebergall's DNA.

Nebergall is currently on unpaid leave from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office
