Palm Beach County Commissioners have agreed to wording that could put a penny sales tax on the ballot this fall.
It could raise $2.7 billion for infrastructure projects.
Money from the tax would be split among the county, Palm Beach County School District and cities.
The vote was 5 to 2. Commissioners Abrams and Valeche dissented.
More steps are needed before the issue is placed on the November ballot.
According to thePalm Beach Post, wording still must be approved by municipalities accounting for at least half of the cities’ total population.
