PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — The West Palm mayor’s race may require a recount.
The city’s canvassing board is scheduled to meet Friday at 9 a.m. at the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Election’s tabulation center to determine if the win by Commissioner Keith James with 50.38 percent is large enough to avoid a runoff against Commissioner Paula Ryan.
If the canvassing board determines it was not a large enough margin, then they will hold a recount.
In a statement, James said, “I fully support the recount process that is being initiated.”
He added, “I do not expect the outcome of this election to change as a result of the recount. We are prepared for the run-off election, if needed.”
