According to the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner, Palm Beach Zoo's lead keeper Stacey Konwiser died of a broken neck after she was attacked by a Malayan tiger at the zoo last Friday.
The final cause of death will be released after they receive the toxicology report.
The attack happened in the tiger night house, where the tigers are fed. Konwiser was performing typical daily tasks with the tiger.
Multiple agencies including West Palm Beach Police Department, Florida Fish and Wild Life, OSHA, and the USDA are investigating the attack which marks first ever fatal incident of its kind involving an animal and a human in the zoo's 60-year history.
Officials say the zoo received a threat against the tiger involved in the attack on Monday.
