Students create paintings for the county

Posted

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Photos from 32 years ago were removed from the Palm Beach County Clerk and Comptroller's office, leaving behind bare, white walls that served as a blank canvas for local student artists like Karisma Quintana.

"We're setting up paintings and other stuff that we've been doing in school to be displayed," Quintana explained. She's one of those whose works is on display. "It's kind of a  beach theme because the theme is Florida nature. There's sand on the bottom and there's different waves splashing on top."

Waves, sea turtles and sea creatures. Rabbits, snakes and alligators, creatively showcasing Florida's great outdoors, indoors. Including a piece by eighth grade artist Nazifa Khan.

"We had to create a zentangle based on an animal, a Florida animal," Khan said. "I chose an alligator because you could do a lot to it."

The trickiest part of the installation is making sure the works of art, with their vibrant colors and patterns flow, together seamlessly.

"You could really see how different artists put stuff together," detailed Quintana. "And how it kind of makes a collage of things when different artists to their own part."

The installation is possible through the new Clerks4Art program.
