Two people dead in murder-suicide near West Palm Beach

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Two people are dead following an apparent murder-suicide Friday night near West Palm Beach.

The shootings happened in the 900 block of Summit Lake Drive.

Officers arrived at the scene at 7:40 p.m. and found a man with gunshot injuries on the front yard of a home and an armed suspect inside the home.

Deputies say the victim was pronounced dead by Fire Rescue.

The armed suspect was barricaded inside the home. SWAT members were on the scene along with negotiators and when they made their entry inside the home they found the suspect dead. According to officials, it appears he took his own life.

The area was evacuated during the standoff.

Summit Boulevard was shutdown between Military Trail and Kirk Road during the incident.

The names of the two people who died have not been released.
