PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — Long lines and hours waiting. That's what a trip to take a new driver's license or plates can be like in Palm Beach County.
Fortunately, there are already plans in the works to help find a fix.
Tax Collector Anne Gannon made public comments this week about the long waits at offices such as the one in downtown West Palm Beach . Gannon made it clear more offices are needed as more people move to the area.
"Two and a half hours right now." said Norman Perry at the Palm Beach Gardens Tax Collector's Office.
"For a big county like Palm Beach we need other facilities, the staff, we can staff more employees, hire more people."
The county’s tax collection office is now looking at expanding with a larger building in the western part of the county where population is surging, as well as replacing the building in Palm Beach Gardens.
For these offices and others, crowds are now normal.
People are coming to the offices to take their real ID licenses and that's also adding to the crowds.
