WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Eighteen year old Sylvia Hooks and three of her friends, McKenna Kellon, Cleveland Mack and Sarah Thomas are graduating from different high schools.

Sylvia says they were looking forward to a traditional graduation, "I really wanted to walk that stage to have that feeling."

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the teens won't have a traditional graduation.

But The Lord's Place wanted the seniors to have a celebration. They know the students personally. Each of the families impacted by homelessness in the past.

Calvin Phillips with The Lord's Place said, "They've gone through some things that most of our children have not gone through. So this gives them an opportunity and a platform to showcase their graduation and the success that they've had so far."

Sarah Alsofrom with GL Homes said, "We have worked with The Lord's Place for a long time and we reached out to them and said what can we do for your high school grads because They have overcome some huge obstacles."

GL Homes provided the teens with flowers, balloons and some sweet treats.

The students will have pictures from a professional photographer-- reminding them years from now of their accomplishments.

"To be honest, I really didn't think I would make it this far, because I started high school a little rocky", said Sarah Thomas.
