Almost 100 men will be cheering for kids on their first day of school. West Palm Beach City Commissioner Cory Neering is spearheading Monday's event. He has recruited dozens of men to stand in front of schools and welcome students to class.
The men will be stationed at four schools Monday morning. They are Westward Elementary, Belvedere Elementary, Roosevelt Elementary and Northmore Elementary schools.
The commissioner's "Ties That Bind" program aims to help young people reach their full potential.
"So this is a way that our young people on the first day of school they will see and come in and be greeted by 25 men of diverse backgrounds. It's just a positive thing here in the city of West Palm Beach," he said.
