The post office is working around the clock to make sure your packages and cards make it on or before Christmas Day. Monday was the busiest delivery day of the year. By the end of day, the postal service estimates it would have delivered 30 million packages.

At the West Palm Beach office off Military Trail workers arrived to work as early as 6 a.m. getting packages and cards out as quickly as they can.

This morning, a major accomplishment, 40% of packages had been delivered by 9 a.m.

The clerks also at the same office loaded up carts in record time, 45 minutes early.

This year the post office is on track to deliver more than 15 billion mail pieces before New Year's Eve.

“The holidays are hard, you know you're very busy, but you have to thank god these days that you are busy and that you have the work,” Rory O’Donovan said.

On Monday we followed O’Donovan,  37-year employee of the postal service. Although hectic, O'Donovan says he does it for the people he serves.

“They're paying you to be Santa Claus,” O’Donovan said. “You're bringing things that people want to receive, you're helping small businesses get a head start, you're really doing a lot of good things and you're touching people's lives in a very unique way."

Monday was the last day to send something priority mail for Christmas. Until December 23rd priority mail express will make it guaranteed Christmas Day.
