A Palm City man is charged with battery on a law enforcement officer after authorities say he punched a West Palm Beach police officer.
Daniel Dolan was arrested Thursday night at the intersection of Olive Avenue and Clematis Street.
Officer Shanna Senior says she was approached by Dolan while working a detail on Clematis.
According to the police report, Officer Senior says Dolan "appeared intoxicated."
She says Dolan handed her a wallet and said he "was drinking and needed to be arrested."
Senior then handed the wallet back to him and told him to get a ride home and that he would not be arrested for being intoxicated.
Moments later, Senior writes in the police report that she heard Dolan say to another officer, "Don't make me hit her to get arrested."
She says when she turned around Dolan hit her in the face.
Witnesses say Dolan was acting irate.
Michael Sotelo didn't see the officer get punched, but he witnessed the moments after the incident.
"He was saying 'Kill me. Shoot me. I hate my life.' And then after they finally got him into the car and they were trying to do the report, he started trying to kick the car door open," Michael says.
The police department wouldn't comment on the case as it is an open investigation.
