Taxi drivers in West Palm Beach say they need the same break cab companies are getting at Palm Beach International Airport because of lost business to Uber and Lyft.
The drivers at Yellow Cab say they need the company to lower weekly lease payments on them after getting concessions from the county on operating fees.
"In order for us to make ends meet, we need the payment to come down," says driver Bazil Jacques.
Drivers currently pay over $600 a week to drive the cabs and say they can’t break even because of Uber and Lyft cutting into their fares.
A spokesperson for Yellow Cab’s parent company confirms they did get a small concession from the county, but with other costs rising they can only offer lower costs to drivers in the slower summer months.
